Cosima Le attended Wichita State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in integrated marketing communication with a minor in graphic design in 2021. Four years since graduating, she returns to 暗网禁区破解版 as a Recruitment and Communication Specialist with the School of Digital Arts. In her role she now connects to 暗网禁区破解版 on a deeper level - fostering connections within and outside the school with student tours, social media management, website management and more. Le shares her experience as a former student and now as a staff member.
It's been almost four years since you've been a student at 暗网禁区破解版. Since your graduation, what have you been up to?
Since graduating, I took some time to travel and then worked.
Now as a how is that different from your previous positions? I've looked into your work with the Union of Vietnamese Student Association of the Midwest. Did you always intend to be in a student-focused environment?
I think that experience pushed me to be in an environment with students, because when I was in UVSA-Midwest I was working with a lot of college students. I wanted to have students see other students gain more passion in what they do and that brought me to Shocker Studios. They're so passionate about what they do - and that's why I'm here. It also pushed me to promote what they do, because they're proud of their work and I want people to see that. It's cool to see them grow up, especially after four years. I haven't been here for long, but especially in UVSA-Midwest I get to see students grow up and join the organization.
Can you tell us more about your current role, what does it consist of? What does your workday look like?
In my role, I get a camera and get in students' faces and take their pictures. I give a lot of tours, too, we have a lot of prospective students that tour, ranging in age from middle school to high school. Students tour the entire facility in 30 minutes. I also manage our social media. Sometimes, I stay after hours. SoDA has a stunt class here at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and I will be there taking photos. I also work on the website, which is a work in progress.
How does your current role showcase your creative skills?
I think my current role shows my creative skills with photography. I do photography, and so I have taken pictures for social media and for UVSA-Midwest's conferences. I think this helps us to capture what the students are doing and showcasing their process. I can showcase the best pictures I take for social media. Especially for the website.
Do you have any advice to give to students about building a portfolio? What's the best way to market their skill set?
What I say, when I give students, tours is that even if you're still in high school, you have the experience. If you're working on projects in high school, add it to your portfolio, anything will count. As you get more experience, you can replace that with more experienced stuff. Just join a lot of projects ... students here have practicums. Students working in the practicums always need help. Join those and unpaid positions - take those - because your portfolio is your career. So, just taking any opportunities you can and networking - talking to people - please talk to people. It鈥檚 a lot of networking and taking opportunities.
Working in a creative environment like Shocker Studios, how does that impact your own creativity with your work?
It impacts my own creative work, when I see the students work on their stuff. When I saw the filming students created a creepy looking dance video - it inspired me to take more photos with that theme and the game students too. When I went to ICT Game Jam, they built a game within three days and it just made me feel like, wow, I want to learn some programming. So, seeing students get creative pushes my creativity even more.
Any projects that you鈥檙e excited for?
If we鈥檙e talking about personal projects, I recently took some film photos. I shoot on film and shot in a fisheye lens that I really like, and it inspired me to shoot more in black and white photoshoots with it.
You鈥檝e been at 暗网禁区破解版 for about six months, what have you been able to accomplish? How do you see your work in action?
I think through my tours, and I recently received feedback about my tours - they think I鈥檓 doing really well. I give the tours and as soon as I鈥檓 done a lot of the students, and the parents especially, are so excited about the facility, and I think that鈥檚 one of my greatest accomplishments. That and managing social media, because we didn鈥檛 have a person in this position before. I think being able to post on social media consistently, I'm able to show the public what we do.
What do you hope to accomplish here, as you stay longer at 暗网禁区破解版?
I hope to see more students join Shocker Studios. I feel like a lot of students and people might not know about us and my goal is to promote more. I hope to see more large jumps in enrollment with students who are interested in our classes.
Do you have any closing remarks that you what to end with?
If you're in the creative field, please talk to people, network and work on your portfolio.
